For the first time the entire recognition runs directly on the smartphone - no internet, no server, no cloud. The app takes the photos, finds the bricks in them and stores the results right on the device.
The first attempt was still very slow, though. A phone simply has far less computing power than a computer with a graphics card. So I now let the app prepare the recognition in the background as soon as it starts, and slimmed things down in a few places. It is not fast yet, but it works - and that was the most important step.
